Work for Voters of Tomorrow
Voters of Tomorrow Action is a 501(c)4 organization dedicated to supporting the youth vote movement. Our work is entirely powered up by young volunteers. Team members might be eligible for community service or internship hours.
People of color, women, members of the LGBTQ community, and members of other historically disenfranchised populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Communications
- Uses social media to grow and maintain the organization’s brand
- Monitors social media trends and works with the communications and digital teams to respond accordingly
- Interacts with stakeholders via the organization’s social media account
- Write and create content to represent Voters of Tomorrow across multiple platforms on a daily basis
- Preferred skills:
- Experience using Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or Snapchat
- Video and photo editing or graphic design experience
- Knowledge of social media algorithms
- To coordinate and develop and online rapid response actions, such as:
- Spam lines
- Website redirects
- Digital advocacy actions
- Works with Digital Campaigns Manager to coordinate actions with messaging
- Requirements: coding experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Support the director in the day-to-day work of the department
- Assists with developing and launching online rapid response actions
- Conceives and coordinates the development of video content support the organization’s messaging
- Consolidates and keeps track of asset licenses
- Develops horizontal and vertical video content for use on social media platforms
- Preferred skills:
- Video editing experience
- Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
- Anticipated time commitment: 5 to 10 hours per week
- Assist the educational content director in identifying educational issues for VOT to highlight
- Draft educational language for posts on VOT’s social media and for resources on our website
- Develops press lists
- Writes first draft of press releases, op-eds, media advisories, and other materials
- Compiles daily media clips
- Preferred skills:
- Strong writing skills and previous writing experience
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Anticipated time commitment: 10 to 15 hours per week
- Maintains press list and contacts for one of three regions (East, Middle, West)
- Edits press releases, op-eds, media advisories, and other materials
- Responds to media inquiries for regional outlets
- Preferred skills:
- Must be located in or willing to work in the hours of the time zone for your region
- Experience pitching or interacting with media
- Anticipated time commitment: 10 to 15 hours per week
- Job description:
- Writes speeches, op-eds, and other long-form content for the VOT leadership team
- Researches and fact checks long-form content
- Anticipated time commitment: Ad hoc, but varies between 0 to 15 hours per week
- Creates graphics for use on social media and the VOT website
- Is able to respond rapidly and create graphics quickly based on news events
- Preferred skills:
- Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
- Anticipated time commitment: 5 to 15 hours per week
Finance
- Support the director in the day-to-day work of the department
- Provide guidance and leadership in initiatives across departments
- Staffing the Executive Director during call time
- Preparing asks, fact sheets, and other information as solicited by the Finance Director
- Conducting donor follow-up
- Find and research potential organizational grants
- Develop effective grant proposals and reports
- Monitor and report use of grant funds
Policy
- Analyzes proposed and existing legislation to understand its
- Collaborates with other departments to convey the effects of proposed and enacted legislation
- A common task would be looking at a bill in Congress and creating a summary of the findings
- Time Commitment: 2 or more hours per week
- Brainstorms with Policy Department policy solutions for the Gen Z Agenda
- Drafts legislation with their fellow Policy Fellows on Gen Z policy priorities
- A common task would be writing a piece of legislation that amends the SNAP program’s eligibility criteria to be more inclusive to young people and college students.
- Time Commitment: 2 or more hours per week
Special Projects
- Assist in special projects implementations to ensure that political goals are met in all external engagement
